                                           Lactation Consultant Services

Single Breastfeeding Consultation    $175.00

A one-time Breastfeeding Consultation in the comfort of your own home. The visit usually takes 1.5-2 hours and includes the following:

 

• Thorough history assessment of mother, baby, birth, and breastfeeding

• Physical assessment of mother and baby

• Observation and assessment of breastfeeding

• Breastfeeding education and recommendations

• A mutually agreed upon plan to help you reach your breastfeeding goals

 

A written plan, including information sheets, will be provided by email within 24 hours of the consultation. Follow up is not included in this package.

 

Basic Breastfeeding Consultation with one month of follow up   $275.00        

The Breastfeeding Consultation is available (within 24-48 hours of booking) for breastfeeding challenges. The Lactation Consultant will meet with you in the comfort of your own home. The visit usually takes 1.5-2 hours and includes the following:

• Thorough history assessment of mother, baby, birth, and breastfeeding

• Physical assessment of mother and baby

• Observation and assessment of breastfeeding

• Breastfeeding education and recommendations

• A mutually agreed upon plan to help you reach your breastfeeding goals

 

A written plan, including information sheets, will be provided by email within 24 hours of the consultation. Follow-up support includes unlimited communication by phone/text/email for up to 4 weeks after the initial visit.  Additional in-home consultations can be scheduled as needed at an hourly rate.

 

Unlimited Breastfeeding Consultation   $450.00       

This package includes all of the services as described in the Basic package with the addition of an unlimited amount of home visits for the first two weeks. Home visits can be booked within 24-48 hours of request.

 

Additional In-Home Consultation   $150.00      

An additional in-person consult can be booked as needed. Breastfeeding will be re-assessed and a mutually agreed upon plan will be created. Continued follow-up is provided by phone/text/email.

 

Prenatal Breastfeeding Education Package   $475.00   

Get breastfeeding off to a good start with your own private prenatal breastfeeding education session. The Lactation Consultant will meet with you in the comfort of your own home and the session will include the following:

​

• Assessment of mother, pregnancy, and any previous breastfeeding history

• Information on how birth practices can impact breastfeeding and what to expect in the first few weeks

• We will discuss how to breastfeed. Positioning, latching, and learning about your baby.

• Information on how to identify any problems that may arise, as well as  how to troubleshoot and find the support you need.

• An information package will be provided for you to read and review as you wish

 

The Prenatal Package also includes one in-person consultation after baby is born. This consultation will take place in your home and will include the following:

• Physical assessment of mother and baby

• Observation and assessment of breastfeeding

• Breastfeeding education and recommendations

• A mutually agreed upon plan to help you reach your breastfeeding goals

 

A written plan, including information sheets, will be provided by email within 24 hours of the consultation. Follow-up support includes unlimited communication by phone/text/email for up to 4 weeks after the initial visit. Additional in-home consultations can be scheduled as needed at an hourly rate.

 

Travel Fees

Travel fees may apply for appointments located outside of the Grande Prairie city limits.

 

Booking and Payment Information

 

• A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking your appointment.

• Appointments can be re-scheduled with a notice of at least 24 hours.

• An additional deposit of $50 will be required if the appointment is rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice.

• Payments can be made prior to the consultation by email money transfer, or at the consultation by cash or cheque.

• A detailed invoice will be emailed to you. This can be submitted to your health insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

 

Prenatal Breastfeeding Education Session

 

Get breastfeeding off to a good start by attending a Prenatal Breastfeeding Education Session. The session will be taught by International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Lorna Hillier. The session includes the following:

 

• Information on how birth practices can impact breastfeeding and what to expect in the first few weeks

• We will discuss how to breastfeed. Positioning, latching, and learning about your baby.

• Information on how to identify any problems that may arise, as well as  how to troubleshoot and find the support you need.

• An information package will be provided for you to read and review as you wish
